Harper Collins Union Wins Tentative Agreement

Harper Collins management and union reached a tentative labor deal on Thursday, 9 February 2023.

After months of striking for better compensation and a more diverse workplace, the Harper Collins Union scored a tentative agreement out of the mediation process that commenced in early February.

The union released a press release on the 9th, highlighting the following news items:

  • HarperCollins Publishers and the Association of HarperCollins Employees affiliated with Local 2110 of the United Auto Workers (UAW), which represents over two hundred HarperCollins employees, have reached a tentative labor agreement. The deal has been agreed to by representatives of the Union and the Company.

  • The tentative agreement includes increases to minimum salaries across levels throughout the term of the agreement, as well as a one time $1,500 lump sum bonus to be paid to bargaining unit employees following ratification.

  • The agreement was facilitated with the help of Todd Austin, Commissioner, Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service.

  • The tentative agreement is subject to ratification by the union membership. Once ratified, the contract will extend through December 31, 2025.

Will union membership ratify the agreement? After months of holding the line, workers and industry observers are rooting for a happy ending, providing the terms of the agreement are satisfactory. Stay tuned!
