Rose City Band has moments that sound like they’re straight off your favorite Dead bootleg. A real jammy bluegrass sensibility. So expect plenty of that on their marvelous LP Summerlong.

Our highlighted track “Empty Bottles” pulls in a different direction. The crunchy lullaby could be a 50s pop crooner in another place, at another time. But Rose City Band make it their own with some lovely slide guitar, a little reverb, and dreamy tempo that comes in and out like a gentle tide. Shades of Cowboy Junkies.
