Butcher Brown: “Ibiza”

Like the title promises, a dance number. Jazz, to be sure. But Butcher Brown has mixed in enough warm weather rhythms, including a lovely techno thump, to qualify our highlighted track “Ibiza” for rotation at la discoteca. The saxophone solo in the back half of the song feels like a salutary gesture for a band that cut its teeth pleasing jazz fans. The vision and scope of this album pushes for spacey, tropical horizons beyond the footprint they’ve already established in the music world. Get spacey with them. Off Letters From The Atlantic.
