Perennial: “Action Painting”
Gobs of garage rock action! Maybe a year ago we tabbed Perennial with the “art school vibes” descriptor. And here they come with an entire album called Art History. I don’t know what that means but it means something. Our highlighted track “Action Painting” is a two-minute outburst that arrives with a black & white video where everyone’s dressed like a character out of a French New Wave film. Tight, taut, titillating. Does not sound like action painting, for what that’s worth.

Garage punk, sure. But the art core impulse is unmistakable here.
