City Councilor At Large, Willie Burnley Jr., is running for Mayor of our home city, Somerville! Battlemode is spending this summer raising awareness and promoting Willie’s campaign through a series of art events: all Somerville venues, all Somerville artists.

There’s some good candidates in this race, but Willie is the best candidate for us because:

He’s the only renter in this race. Rents are TOO DAMN HIGH - and Willie is in the same boat as us. Currently serving as City Councilor At-Large, Willie is running for mayor to make Somerville affordable, accessible, and accountable for all.

Willie advocates for Somervillian free speech. Somervillians are being abducted off the streets over speech. Willie is a longtime organizer who has fought against state repression, surveillance, and chased fascists out of our community. With fascists leading the federal government, we need a mayor like Willie to create true community defense.

Somerville is synonymous with arts - we need our artists, and we need venues to feature our artists. We believe Willie is the strongest candidate to champion our arts ecosystem - making life a little easier for both our artists and venues.
