Mohini Dey: “In-N-Out”

It’s all about the bass. Mohini Dey is a world class bassist that can make the four-string (though she’s probably rocking a five-string at least) sing like a room full of Barry White clones on speed. Wild virtuosity abounds. How could you pick one track? Might as well start at the start by highlighting the opener “In-N-Out.” A prog jazz adventure that lays the groundwork for exploration and high caliber musicianship. By the way, the track listing is littered with double entendres and eyebrow raisers like “Meat Eater,” “First Food Then You,” “Happy To Slap It,” along with the opener. Who knows why, but it’s wonderful. Off the self-titled LP.
