Adrianne Lenker: “Happiness” (Live)

Cassettes and live albums dovetail nicely. Cassettes always have a little extra wobble to them, soundwise, but it’s a friendly wobble and warp, which reminds you of the imperfections that come with experiencing live music.
You’re never situated in exactly the right part of the music hall, always too close or too far from the speaker. Always some background chatter in your right ear. Always the clatter of seats or doors or barbacks spraying out a layer of white noise. Always something wrong, but you wouldn’t trade it for anything, and cassettes capture that imperfect perfection.
Now having said all that, know that the cassettes of Adrianne Lenker’s live album Live At Revolution Hall are sold out. Hey, that’s showbiz, baybeee! Via 4AD.
