Arvo Pärt: “Silentium”

There’s no wrong way to eat a Reese’s. And by “way to eat a Reese’s” I mean “time to reissue Arvo Pärt.”
The Estonian composer was a genius, composing classical tunes in the 20th century that simultaneously looked to the past as well as the future. The Bandcamp gloss credits him as an innovator of “holy minimalism,” which is a fine thing to say, but makes him sound stuffier than he was. The guy’s music will light your hair on fire.
Our highlighted track is “Silentium,” a quieter number. But remember that getting your hair lit on fire is about intensity – not volume, not flash, not the swaggering pantomime of fury. Pärt is the real thing. Go ahead and eat that fucking Reese’s. Via Mississippi Records.
