Keeley Forsyth and Matthew Bourne: “Rain”

A slow starter. I usually stay away from songs that don’t bop you over the head in the first five seconds, but you’ve got to learn some patience with Keeley Forsyth. The artvox ruminations of the English artist deserve that much. Multi-instrumentalist Matthew Bourne is also along for the ride on our highlighted track “Rain,” and he’d very much appreciate your sustained and enduring attention as well. Spare, lush, all at once. Every time I hear Forsyth, it feels like someone is dropping a page from the Sixth Revised ed. of the Songbook for the End of the World. There’s always something to look forward to until there isn’t.
