Lane: “Everybody’s Finding Out”

A cool Rubik’s Cube riff rambler in our highlighted track “Everybody’s Finding Out,” the lead single off the forthcoming full-length Receiver. Lane is a guitar-driven band that takes a surgeon’s scalpel to rock n roll cliches. What are we left with? A minimalist artcore meditation on what sounds like homicidal bourgeois indifference in the face of pandemic-era precautionary strictures. In other words, grooves to vibe to. The percussive input from Julian Fader enjoys equal partnership with guitars in a happy post punk marriage. And the clean textures of the electric six-string feel nigh revolutionary against a desolate Boston landscape of emo-fueled distortion. Shout out to me for using the word “nigh” in 2024. The full album drops early May.
