Matchess: “In Sleep”

Washed out, washed right. Our highlighted track “In Sleep” by Matchess is the kind of music that needs to be played very loud if you see it live. Otherwise, you lose the thrust of it. If you’re just listening from home, do as you please. The faint melody barely rises off the mat, knocked down for the count by a grinning electricity-charged tsunami. Drone is the point here. But you’ll appreciate the shadow of an echo of a sham of a mockery of a trace of versified pop sweetness, lingering somewhere in the haze. Off Stena. Via Drag City Records.
