Sam Scranton: “Luna”
Written By Michael Gutierrez

Cluttered minimalism. Is that a thing? The sound palette is smartly-controlled in Sam Scranton’s ambient adventure Body Pillow so that you never feel overwhelmed with options. You feel like you are being led down a cool garden path with choice specimens of the local flora neatly boxed off into their proper regions. At least you do on “Luna,” the opening track and our highlighted number. Expect a manifold of manicured sound miniatures laced into a rolling vibe. Shades of Aphex Twin’s Computer Controlled Acoustic Instruments pt2, but more New Age.
