Luke Combs: “Joe”

I picked this track because the title is short. Only three letters in the title of our highlighted song “Joe” by Luke Combs. I appreciate the brevity, if not the wit. Country music superstar narrates a story about a more-or-less functional drunk that cleans up his act, finding the “light at the end of the bottle.” Life just keeps getting better and better for Joe. There’d be a lot more impactful drama if Joe had a relapse or two. But that would’ve required an extra verse at least. Maybe a bridge too. Who needs it? Off Gettin’ Old. Via Sony Music.
