Lutalo: “PLPH”
Written By Michael Gutierrez

What is the lo-fi aesthetic these days? Pro-grade recording equipment is relatively affordable and ubiquitous. If you thought the 4-track mania of the indie rock ‘90s was a bit of a posture, what do you make of it in 2023? At this point it’s a choice, rather than a strict necessity, and a choice that works for Vermont’s Lutalo. Our highlighted track “PLPH” leads off the full-length album AGAIN, which dropped in August. Dumpster percussion and trash can guitars flash sunny, psych-soaked hooks alongside lyrics delivered like Pop Art nursery rhymes. It’s good vibes.
