Pelican: “Indelible”

A workmanlike metal instrumental. Shades of math rock in the introspective complexities of the 7+ minute composition “Indelible” from Pelican. Or is it off target to describe a piece of music as introspective because it doesn’t have any vocals or lyrics? As if the band was keeping something concealed? All the cards are on the table in this song, and every other song I’ve heard so far from their latest LP Flickering Resonance. Pelican is a band that likes chugging riffery, crescendos, transcendent moments, and that moment in Top Gun when Maverick does a high speed flyby past the control tower (making that dude spill his coffee). Maybe you like it too? Via Run For Cover Records.
