Straight out of Ypsi! Riot Course delivers a kind of garage rock version of Metric with our highlighted track “Downside”. The uptempo emo rocker returns to the central image of a tangled web, a metaphor for the knotty exigencies of life that tie us up and pull in every direction. Lead vocalist Kate Amrich walks a highwire of self doubt in the lyrics, and the pounding rock rhythms don’t offer much consolation.
