Sun June: “Easy Violence”

The Austin band serves up textures that sound like paint strokes. It’s Sun June! Look through the list of players, and they’re all playing the usual suspects. Guitar, bass, drums, synth, maybe a horn here or there. But add it all up and you’ve got a sound with personality that’s more than the sum of its parts. You could have written, played, and recorded our highlighted track “Easy Violence” entirely on a synth with the right effects and machine beats. It wouldn’t have sounded nearly as good as the version on the full-length Bad Dream Jaguar. But you could have.
