Alabaster DePlume: “Oh My Actual Days”

Has he improved at crying yet? It was still a work in progress when Hump Day News reviewed Alabaster DePlume’s song “I’m Good At Not Crying” way back when. In that review we called his sound a “woozy parade.” Which still might be applied to the lead track “Oh My Actual Days” off his latest album. Jazzy, ambient, haunting, pensive. Violin, sax, guitar, keys, and more sail along on the current. The whole lacks definition, if we’re being honest. But the mood is undeniable, and, toward the three-quarter mark, transcendent.
